Specific topics include screening, assessment, diagnosis, intake, treatment planning, case management, co-occurring disorders, discharge planning, and referral. The course encompasses a study of screening and assessment procedures used to gather information during the client intake process that form the basis for a multivariate diagnosis of addictive disorders as described in the current edition of the DSM. Screening and assessment instruments will be utilized with the Bio/Psycho/Social evaluation to formulate and support a Diagnostic Summary. The current ASAM Patient Placement Criteria will be utilized to match the client with the appropriate level of care and appropriate differential treatment plan.
