Phlebotomy Technician CertificateBiological and Health Sciences Division, Room B213, (847) 543-2042https://www.clcillinois.edu/programs/biodv/phlebotomy-technician This certificate prepares students for entry level competencies as phlebotomists in hospitals, intermediate care facilities, blood banks, and other clinical settings. On campus, students will learn theory and develop skills as a phlebotomist. Upon successful completion of the didactic courses, students may enroll in the final course, which requires a three week externship. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the national certification examination given by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. This program is approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS): 5600 N. This is not a limited enrollment program, however, seats fill quickly. Day and evening options are available. ACADEMIC PROGRAM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
NON-ACADEMIC PROGRAM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS Because of inherent requirements of the profession, the following minimum abilities, i.e. essential functions, are expected of the student:
Students must earn a minimum grade of “C” in each Phlebotomy course to be able to continue in and graduate from the program. Recommended Plan of Study

* To be eligible to enroll in PBT 116 Phlebotomy Clinical, students must:
Earn a grade of “C” or better in PBT 110 and PBT 115
Hold current Healthcare Provider CPR from American Heart Association
Have an overall CLC GPA of 2.0 or higher
Provide proof that all immunizations required to satisfy the phlebotomy health requirements are completed
Complete a 10 panel urine drug screening with normal negative results (test date must be less than 12 months old)
Show as Eligible on the IDPH Health Care Worker Registry based upon the results of a FEE_APP fingerprinting background check
Students are required to have personal health insurance for the duration of their clinical externship.
