This certificate is designed for individuals who have earned a bachelor's degree, in any field, and would like to continue their education to qualify to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. The accounting electives, Cost Accounting and Advanced Accounting, are strongly recommended for students preparing to sit for the CPA exam.
Students transferring in the equivalent of ACC 121 and/or ACC 122, for less than eight hours, will need to take additional Accounting electives to meet the required 30 hours in accounting courses.
For students preparing to sit for the CPA exam, the following additional courses are recommended to meet the 12 hour requirement in Business- BUS 111, BUS 121, BUS 222, BUS 223, ECO 221, ECO 222.

To qualify to take the CPA exam in Illinois, a candidate must have:
A bachelor’s degree, in any field;
120 semester hours of college credit;
24 semester hours of Accounting credit (included in 150 above), to include courses in Financial, Managerial, Taxation, Auditing; and
12 semester hours in Business.
