Overview
Description
This course provides a topical and thematic approach to post World War II United States History. Among the topics and themes to be covered include: Cold War foreign policy and fears at home; suburbanization and mass consumer culture; the changing politics and meaning of liberalism and conservatism; social movements of the Left and Right; changes in immigration, ethnicity, race, and gender; accelerating technological innovation; and the impact of globalization. The main emphases of the course are the intersection of political economy, culture, and society at home and the evolution of America’s role abroad.
