Overview
Description
This course (formerly WLD 172) covers the fundamental theory and practice of "stick" electrode welding in the flat and horizontal positions. Safety, equipment set-up and adjustment, materials preparation, techniques and electrode selection are studied and practiced. Opportunity to work with a variety of material thicknesses, joint designs implementing single pass and multi-pass techniques will be covered. Welding of steel and its alloys is the primary focus.Note: Student must furnish basic required PPE.
