Overview
Description
This course provides the student with an exploration of the neurobiological processes, including neurotransmission, an overview of the various elements of the nervous system, and the effects, mechanisms, and actions of classes of psychotropic drugs. Students will study the terms used in the medical and psychotherapy profession as described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) and the International Classification of Disease (ICD). Abbreviations, spelling, and pronunciation are emphasized.
